Long Time No Post

Been a while since I posted last. I'm still "stuck" on Little House of Horrors--much to Steve's delight and he has instructed the "girls" not to give me any hints. ~~shakes fist~~ in mock rage. I think he's just thrilled Little House of Horrors has me banging my head since I crushed his 4 test troublemaker puzzles he sent to me way too quickly for his liking. Had a wonderful lunch w/ Steve and Martha when they were out in San Francisco, my photo is misplaced so I will need them to post theirs.… Continue

Review: Circus Train -- Full Series

This review will be my omnibus review of all of the puzzles in the circus train family of puzzles. In our community, Bryan had posted some reviews: one review [having trouble finding links to all of them but search around :D] and goaded me into ordering the whole set. There are a total of eight (8) puzzles in the series: seven (7) trick puzzles rates 1 to 4 bolts and one traditional puzzle (a caboose) th… Continue

Misc Progress Report (Circus Train / London Larceny)

Ok, I'm done with all but Roo Romp, just haven't "gotten it", so Steve is quite happy, which makes me glad since while the others were enjoyable they went fast. So on my list: 1) Finish roo romp 2) What a tweet (arriving late July/early august) 3) Little house of horrs (as above) On London Larceny, Steve is working on a slight redo of the puzzle to address the glitch I brought to his attention so I want to wait on my review until I get the replacement pieces. Meanwhile more Troublemakers have… Continue

Circus Train Progress Report #5

Well, had a fun call with the Chief Torrmentor this morning also, and while on the phone finished Circus Engine leaving only Roo Romp. These are a great series, maybe I can force myself to wait until the weekend to finish Roo Romp. Who am I kidding? I've barely managed to hold off doing an all nighter to finish them all. After I finish these, I've got Dee' House of Horror's and Edith's What a Tweet en route for the end of August and that's all my orders. On my wishlist is Treasure Trove sti… Continue

Circus Train Progress Report #4

Well, I didn't finish them all last night, I tried to talk myself into 1 per day, but here I am late for work again today and I finished TWO more: Seaquarium and Dancing Dolphins. Seaquarium has been the easiest of them all so far IMHO, but I can also understand why it got rated the way it did. So that leaves me Roo Romp and Engine to put together. This is a very fun set of puzzles to work. Thank you, thank you Bryan for getting me off my ass to order these. Continue

Circus Train Progress Report #3

Ok, came home and finished the dolphins... that leaves the puzzles exactly half done (all are basic assembly complete) so 4 trick puzzles to solve, debating saving them to do over next 4 days or just rushing through tonight... Continue

Circus Train Progress Report

In order to spread out my pleasure, I'm trying to limit myself to two hours/night on the circus train series. The 8 puzzles arrived in one big box, 370 pieces!!! All mixed together. Here are some shots of how quickly I started assembly before even getting all of the pieces together. Anyhow, after two hours, I have the bases of all 8 trains sorted. For the caboose it is fully assembled, the elephant show is fully assembled + trick solved (had my name on it, had to be first), lion show assembled,… Continue

Misc Puzzling Adventures

So, I got a chance to puzzle Neck & Neck & Neck through a swap; however, the puzzle was missing in the neighborhood of 6-10 pieces from some of the trick areas! :( Nonetheless, I basically figured out the trick within the limitations of missing a lot of the key pieces for the trick... yay. So assembly was hard, trick was easy-ish. Circus train 8 arrive today via UPS and so that makes me excited. Sleep tonight, unsure :D :D :D Also, somewhere in there this weekend, I also puzzled a tra… Continue

London Larceny

I've been sidetracked this week... and yesterday when I had PLANNED to work on the puzzle, I got talked by my brother's wife's sister's husband (brother-in-law^2? brother-in-law once removed? ;) to do the "Man v. Food" SmokeEaters wing challenge. Full gallery here, flickr, or the "money shot" of me suffering with wings that weren't so much spicy as disgusting when you have 10 minutes to eat 12 and then have to lick your… Continue
