Hi John. Sorry you are having trouble. Yes, there are quirks in the tools. Try this and let me know how it goes. Before you start each paragraph put the following in before the first letter of the first word of the paragragh (leave out the quotation marks) "

" then after the period to the last letter of the last word in a paragraph put "

" (again drop the quote marks)
do the above for each paragraph. you should have to do that, typically because this code should be going in automatically.

Hi John Welcome aboard www.stavepuzzlenuts.com! You note the circus train puzzle series. There were one or two in there that drove me nuts! Small little things shouldn't be so hard! A friend gave me a clue or two to solve it.....still had trouble but finally succeeded. When you start to cut puzzles for kids, please consider blogging about it on www.stavepuzzlenuts.com. I think people would enjoy reading about your experience. Maybe you'll inspire others. Did you know that the first jigsaw puzzle ever created was for the purpose of teaching kids geography? It was of a map. And the oldest surviving puzzle is in the British Museum in London and it is of a ......map!!!!! Best wishes, June

I have some other wooden puzzles (J.C Ayer) that I've really enjoyed. By looking around the web, it was obvious that Stave puzzles were, by far, the most orignal and artistic puzzles out there (and the most expensive - but that's another topic).

Creating my first puzzles . . .

A few months before Christmas, I had a conversation with Kathy, my wife. It went something like this:

"Kathy, I think I know what I want for Christmas."

"Good. What do you want?"

"A scroll saw"

"What's that? I've never heard of a scroll saw."

"It's a saw that looks like a table with a small thin blade that goes up and down through

"This puzzle is tricky . . . "

My five year old daughter was very excited to give my wife (Kathy) her Christmas gift this year, Jonah and the Whale - our first Stave puzzle. Julia even picked it out herself, adding to her excitement.

Kathy has done puzzles all her life long and in the last 10 years or so, we've picked up a number of wooden puzzles "cut" by J.C Ayer (for those who don't know, Jim uses a water-jet system to make his puzzles). She waited until the kids got into their gifts, then she cracked open the box expect… Continue
