What A Tweet, along with Fishbowl Frenzy, is a great intro to Tricks imho. But for an aficionado like yourself, probably not too challenging. Beautiful artwork as you say. Spinning A Tail and Those Blooming Cats were more of a challenge for me. Th...

Nice to hear from you David.... I got What a Tweet, need to do a review, finished it in under an hour... gorgeous though. Still cranking through "Little House of Horrors"

Hey Erik. Nice review as always. I've often considered this one. I too love the artwork, but at one sword and only forty pieces, I'll probably pass in favour of a larger puzzle. Didn't you have one of Edith's cat tricks on order? Has it arrived y...

Long Time No Post

Been a while since I posted last. I'm still "stuck" on Little House of Horrors--much to Steve's delight and he has instructed the "girls" not to give me any hints. ~~shakes fist~~ in mock rage.

I think he's just thrilled Little House of Horrors has me banging my head since I crushed his 4 test troublemaker puzzles he sent to me way too quickly for his liking.

Had a wonderful lunch w/ Steve and Martha when they were out in San Francisco, my photo is misplaced so I will need them to post theirs.… Continue

Review: Circus Train -- Full Series

This review will be my omnibus review of all of the puzzles in the circus train family of puzzles.

In our community, Bryan had posted some reviews: one review [having trouble finding links to all of them but search around :D] and goaded me into ordering the whole set.

There are a total of eight (8) puzzles in the series: seven (7) trick puzzles rates 1 to 4 bolts and one traditional puzzle (a caboose) th… Continue

my goodness, you do have such a collection! And I think that I'm impatient working for that "one more piece." I cannot imagine how much energy it took for you to assemble all of the circus series.

Yeah--definitely. I should be available those days--you'll have to let me know when you know your conference schedule more concretely.

Got Pull My Strings today. Boy is there a difference between two swords and four! Just posted a blog entry about my impressions.

Hope your week got off to a good start.

That is a good piece of advice. Pull My Strings is sitting on my desk right now. Can't wait to get home tonight and give it a go.

You're in patent law too?! Cool--how do you like it? I just finished my doctorate last year, and decided to follow a non-traditional career path for a chemical engineer, so now I'm working as a technical advisor for an IP boutique called McDonnell Boehnen Hulbert & Berghoff. Are you at a firm or in-house somewhere?

In an obsessive thirst to satisfy Stave curiosity, I actually read most of the reviews (esp. yours and June's) I could find on this site...I think I'd be at an impasse if I were to be deciding between purchasing Treasure Trove or Palace of Pranks. I definitely like the way Treasure Trove looks over Palace, but I would love the extra puzzling challenges of Palace of Pranks... Actually, one puzzle that is high on my list now after reading your reviews is When Nature Calls. I love the colors, and also how ambiguous the website is (and your review is) about its design, so that it'll be more of a surprise.

Hi Erik--Actually, I did have a question for you--I saw that you had Bubbles on your list and was wondering what you thought of it. I have Pull My Strings on its way (actually, I'm pretty sure I will get it tomorrow, as UPS says it's already in Chicago) and was trying to decide between it and Bubbles. Ultimately, I settled on Strings for mostly aesthetic reasons (and its catalogue description was more intriguing).

It would definitely be great to grab a drink and meet a seasoned Staver like yourself if you are in town. (I hope one day to have a small collection of Staves, even if just a fraction of the size of your own, but getting past my partner's disbelief at spending that kind of cash on jigsaw puzzles is a challenge I foresee...) June may be tough though--I'm heading out of town for a wedding on the 13th, and the next weekend my family is visiting.

Hi Erik, just wanted to let you know that I've really enjoyed reading all of your reviews, and getting to satisfy my curiosity about puzzles I may never get to get my hands on--especially Time Traveler. Thanks for taking the time to share--it is much appreciated!

HI Erik, thanks for your comment and I've checked your list of puzzles. Wow! You are a nut! If I may ask, do you have any advice on how not to go bankrupt with this obsession?! Any inside tricks to being able to afford a large traditional? I watch for the deals and I will collect my points but any other advice?

Hi Erik, I have been very lucky sharing my puzzles. They have all come back in great shape. I will be glad to send the first puzzle. After looking at your collection, I am a little worried that my puzzles would be a little dull for you. You can email me with details at Bailey_hannah@yahoo.com.

Hi Erik! Wondered if it would be possible for you to link from your list of puzzles to your reviews? It's great having the clickable names linking to the product pages on Stave's website, but I wondered if it would be possible to have links to your reviews as well? It'd be really useful now that you've reviewed a large number of the puzzles you own and puzzles you've puzzled. Many thanks for taking the time to provide so much information, it's much appreciated! David
P.S. Look me up if you're ever in the UK!

Hi Erik! How's it going?
Thanks for the review of Puff Enough. It's one of the puzzles I've got my eye on (once my existing orders come through, and funds allow).
I've just left a comment on June's blog about Fan Flair, regarding your Valentines puzzles. Any chance you could enlighten me? (You'll see what I mean if you read the blog).
Many thanks Erik - David
