Has anyone ever hosted a Stave Puzzle Party in their homes? It's my turn to arrange a monthly Red Hat event, and I thought I'd open it up to the 1st 12 who responded....4 per puzzle. Since I also sell books online, the group that comes the closest to winning would each get a free book. I contacted Customer Service at Stave to see if they'd provide 12 sets of catalogs and hose tiny promotional puzzles to hand out to each player, but I haven't heard back from them in a month. The one caveat: Food and drinks would not be allowed anywhere near the 3 playing surfaces. Anybody have any comments to make it more fun? Has anyone ever done this?

Hi Carol,

Just reading your post here in PuzzleNuts. I apologize that it appears that we haven't responded to you before now. We have had issues with AOL emails. Yes! We absolutely will send you packets and small puzzles for your party. We received your message on our machine and will get those in the mail to you right away.

We do have a few ideas for your puzzle party and I'll contact you shortly.

There are 28 members of our Red Hat group in South Florida: ladies of a "mature" age who must come in purple outfits and outrageous red hats. I billed it as a Red Hat Stave Puzzle Party and opened it up to the first 12 who responded. Since I own three Level 2 Teaser puzzles (4 at each puzzle), I figured a light finger lunch far away from my puzzles (with great encouragement for hand washing at the end) would start us out. Since no group stands a chance of completing a puzzle within the 2-hour limit, a prize will go to each member of the group that got the farthest along. We all know that once you've tried Stave you can never go back to anything less, so I'll be handing out catalogs. If only one Red Hatter buys a puzzle, well....I've got a potential Stave trade! And at the very least, I'll have some terrific pictures to share with you. Too bad I didn't save up and buy the Red Hat puzzle Stave actually lists! Well, look for the results of my Red Hat Stave Puzzle Party after Nov. 16th.

We've never done it but what a great idea. Not only do you host an unique party, you also get friends interested in Stave Puzzles and open the prospect of future puzzle sharing. I'll have to look into doing this at our next family reunion. Please share how your party goes. We would love to hear about it.
